Smouldering from the ashes of Project Rotten comes a re-imagining of what EBM really is in the form of Kill The Sleeper, a ‘Harsh-EBM’ act from Sweden who is set to take on all pretenders in 2014 having signed to Juggernaut Music. We pumped it all the way to max volume, just to wake up the fucking neighbours!!

Sometimes you listen to something and the harsh reality sets in the you’ve been sitting around the house playing with yourself for too long and you really should get out there and sample something new. New stuff is happening all the time and this collection from Kill The Sleeper is a classic example of that. The only way I can describe it is raw and aggressive energy from start to finish, when you press play on this the first track,Watching The Snow Fall Again, it smashes right through your eardrums and kicks the living fuck out of your skull.

The vocals sound like a demon screaming from the depths of possessed child and it speaks right to the very core of your psyche, that primeval part of your brain that doesn’t reason or question, it just reacts to what it likes and makes you do what it wants. It’s near impossible to pick a favourite track here but if I were in thumb screws I’d have to pick Ketamine Candy and The Chocolate Dandy (track 7), which sounds like it was mastered by Lucifer himself. For a dramatic change of pace you fall into the dark and disturbing Icing is For Cakes Not For Bands, which is blacker than a Swedish winter and chills the soul just as much.

2014 is proving to be a very exciting year and we here at The Flag can’t wait to hear more from guys like Kill The Sleeper, this really is one of those game-changers, an album we’ll be talking about 20 years when the deluxe version comes out. For more things Kill The Sleeper and more up and coming EBM, Industrial and Synth, head over to Juggernaut Music and have a dig around.
